Objective

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

• Hold and use scissors safely
• Cut along straight, curved, and simple patterned lines
• Apply glue appropriately
• Paste cut materials in designated areas
• Follow a sequence of steps to complete a simple task
• Improve eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills
• Complete a simple cutting and pasting activity with increasing independence

Teaching-Learning Process

A. Introduction 

• Say: “Today we are going to learn how to cut and paste”
• Display a sample activity – how does it look before cutting and after cutting and similarly before and after pasting
• Discuss the purpose of cutting and pasting skills in daily life and vocational tasks
• Demonstrate how to use scissors safely, cut along lines, and paste the cut pieces neatly
• Use visual cards and demonstration while introducing the activity

B. Preparation

• Ensure students are comfortably seated and prepared for the activity
• Arrange students in pairs or small groups for peer assistance
• Arrange materials on each student’s desk/work area
• Ensure scissors are appropriate for student ability
• Display step-by-step visual instructions
• Demonstrate safe handling of scissors and glue
• Keep a completed sample ready for reference

C. Procedure

• Teacher introduces the materials and their uses
• Demonstrate correct scissor grip
• Show how to cut along a straight line
• Students observe carefully
• Encourage students to practice cutting simple lines
• Demonstrate cutting simple shapes
• Show how to apply glue using a small amount
• Demonstrate pasting cut pieces onto a worksheet or chart
• Encourage students to make greeting cards, collage, mosaic art with small cut pieces of paper etc.
• Engage students in functional cutting tasks such as cutting pictures for pasting activities, cutting labels, tags, or packaging materials, and preparing materials for craft and vocational tasks
