1. Opening

Good morning everyone.

• Our school teaches us many things including how to be kind and caring. 
• We may look different, think differently, or like different things but each one of us is special.
• Today, we will learn how we can make others happy by being kind. 

2. Mindful Start

Let us sit quietly.

• Close your eyes gently. 
• Take a deep breath in. 
• Slowly breathe out. 
• Let us do this three times. 
• Think of one kind act you can do today. 
• Now slowly open your eyes. 

Positive Affirmation

Let us say together:
“I will be kind. I will help others. I will make my school a happy place.”

3. Learn New ways to Talk

Feature “Words of the Week” in both spoken language and sign Language. Students are encouraged to implement the idea throughout the week.

1. One student says, “Be Kind”, another student demonstrates it in sign language. All students try this.
2. One student says, “Share”, another student demonstrates it in sign language. All students try this.

Repeat a few times and allow the students to get the sign language perfectly.

Close your eyes for a moment. 

• Think about someone who was kind to you. 
• It could be a friend, a teacher, a family member, or anyone else. 
• Think about how you felt when they were kind to you. 
• Today, let us try to be kind to someone else in the same way.

Let us Pray together (A teacher or student can lead and the children can follow)

Dear Lord, 
Let me be kind to everyone.
Let me use gentle words.
Let me help others when they need us.
Let me share, care, and be good friends.
Let our hearts be filled with love and kindness.
Let us make our school a happy place for all.

Adaptations to address variability in an inclusive classroom

The variability of an inclusive environment needs to address the processing and attention differences among learners. An inclusive environment may include learners with visual impairments, hearing impairments, locomotor impairments and cognitive differences. Learners not only learn in different ways, but also possess unique motivations, interests, personalities and strengths. To address this variability, providing appropriate adaptations is an effective solution.
