Paper Envelope Making

Objective

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

• Identify materials required for envelope making
• Follow step-by-step instructions to create a paper envelope
• Demonstrate fine motor coordination (folding, pasting)
• Work independently or with minimal support

Materials Required:

• Old newspapers / A4 sheets / chart paper
• Glue / Fevicol
• Scale (ruler)
• Pencil
• Safety scissors
• Sample finished envelope
• Visual instruction cards (step-by-step)
• Pre-cut templates (for students needing support)

Prior Knowledge

Students should already know:

• Basic use of scissors and glue
• Simple folding techniques
• Following 2–3 step instructions

Teaching-Learning Process

A. Introduction 

• Show a finished paper envelope to the class
• Ask: “Where do we use envelopes?”
• Discuss uses (letters, invitations, storing small items)
• Use visual cards to introduce key steps
•  Motivate students by explaining that they will make their own envelope

B. Preparation

• Distribute materials to each student
• Provide pre-cut sheets/templates for students requiring support
• Arrange students in pairs or small groups for peer assistance
• Ensure safety instructions are explained

C. Procedure

• Take a rectangular sheet of paper
• Fold it into three equal parts (demonstrate slowly)
• Fold the bottom section upward
• Apply glue to side edges
• Press firmly to seal
• Fold the top flap downward
• Optional: Decorate the envelope
