Important Tips
- Use two different coloured beads. Students should pick up the beads according to the number shown for addition.
- For example, if the teacher is asking, how much is 5+4=? Then the student should pick up five red beads and four blue beads, then count the total beads.
- If teachers wish to teach for multi digit numbers, then also this activity can be used by replacing the single digit strips with the multi digit strips.
Notes to the Teacher
Single Digit Tree is a simple practical method to teach addition with the help of beads. Students can increase their concentration level by counting the number of beads they have to pick. If any student has sensory issues, then also this activity will help them to add the numbers.
